Honour & Casualties List

The name of Willam Spickett has been found twice in the archive held at the Worcestershire & Sherwood foresters regiment in Worcester. His name first comes up in the list of Battle Honours given to the regiment for the services they carried out in the area of the somme.
You can see his name in the exerts above. You can click on them to see a bigger version but again they are of poor quality.

The mention in the lists tell us William was born in Bristol and that he also enlisted in Bristol. His service number was 36664 and the letters Pte tell us he was ranked as a Private.

K , in A, means he was killed in action and F & F stands for France and Flanders, this is followed by the date he fell. William was as far as we know the only Spickett who fell in the first world war. This is backed up by the commonwealth war graves commision who say that he is the only Spickett they have
any records about.

The list also gives a brief detail of where his
memorial is in france.
